Measure a volume
It is possible to measure volumes easily within the my.kickthemap platform.
In the left sidebar, click on the “volume” icon.
Once selected, draw the reference surface for the volume calculation. To complete the drawing of the surface, double-click the left mouse button.
This surface defines the zero level of your volume calculation.
To perform the measurement, you must first define the mesh precision of the volume (1), then click on “Compute Volume” (2), and optionally generate the volume report (3)
The results of the volume computation can be found in the left sidebar
If the volume is below the reference surface (e.g., trenches), the result is displayed in red (both in the drawing and the result). If the volume is above the reference surface, the result is displayed in green (e.g. stockpile).
Warning
The calculated volumes are based on the point cloud displayed in your viewer. This means that the tool relies on the first points detected above or below the reference surface. For example, the volume occupied by pipes or other elements within an excavation is not taken into account.
